The Bachelor of Information Technology (IT)
program is offered under the supervision of the Department of Information Technology, College of Computer and Information Technology, Northern Border University. The program extends over four academic years.
The program aims to prepare highly qualified graduates in the field of Information Technology who are capable of contributing effectively to the development of the technology sector in the Kingdom and meeting the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.
Academic Structure and Tracks
The program currently includes three specialization tracks available to students in advanced levels:
- (General Track)
- This track provides a broad knowledge base across various areas of Information Technology and is suitable for students who wish to acquire advanced skills in multiple disciplines without limiting themselves to a specific specialization.
- (Computer Networks)
This track focuses on network design and management, communication protocols, network security, and network infrastructure. - (Internet of Things - IoT)
This track emphasizes smart devices, sensors, device-to-device communication, and intelligent applications in industrial and service sectors.
These tracks are continuously developed to ensure alignment with the latest technological trends and labor market requirements at both the local and international levels.
Program Educational Objectives:
Graduates of the Bachelor of Information Technology program are expected to :
1. Demonstrate excellence in core Information Technology knowledge by solving problems that require IT based solutions using up to date tools and technologies.
2. Be familiar with research trends, recent innovations, and entrepreneurship opportunities in the field of Information Technology.
3. Possess effective communication skills, critical thinking abilities, and a commitment to lifelong learning.
4. Demonstrate commitment to ethical values, social responsibility, and the ability to work effectively in diverse professional environments.

Statistics and Academic Staff
The program has graduated 479 students to date (215 male and 264 female graduates), with 307 students currently enrolled.
The program is delivered by a distinguished academic team consisting of 9 Assistant Professors and 7 Lecturers.
Alignment with the Labor Market
The program focuses on equipping students with technical and practical skills in areas including software development, databases, networks and information security, web applications, and Internet of Things technologies.
Graduates are qualified for positions such as:
- IT Manager
- Network and Communications Engineer
- Software Developer
- Information Security Analyst
- Technical Project Manager
- Database Administrator
Quality and Accreditation
The program was launched in the 2007–2008 academic year and has witnessed significant development in academic content and infrastructure, including the establishment of 17 modern laboratories equipped with advanced technologies.
The program obtained accreditation from the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) for the period 2018–2024 and is currently working to fulfill the requirements for local academic accreditation from the Education and Training Evaluation Commission, represented by the National Center for Academic Accreditation and Evaluation (NCAAA), as part of its commitment to continuous improvement and quality assurance.
